For the past 14 years, the annual Rally Clásico Isla Mallorca has become one of Europe’s best known and highly competitive classic events, which this year will take place on the second weekend of March.
With over 80 cars competing during the 3 day event, the rally has two different categories: Competition and Regularity. The Competition category involves race prepared cars, with the Regularity category centred around having fun whilst driving regular classic cars. There will be 14 stages taking place over the long weekend, with 2 on Thursday evening and 6 each on Friday and Saturday.
Over 150 professionals are in charge of the organisation of the event overseeing logistics, time keeping and security. This rally combines competitiveness with pleasure and is a reference for other international rallies. Rally drivers from across Europe take part every year, with more than 90% repeating drivers this year. This high rate is a result of the high quality and fun that can be experienced during the event.
The popular rally takes the cars through 400km of mountain roads around the west coast of Mallorca, where spectators can head to Puerto Portals to admire the wonderful cars taking part in the competition.
The Rally Clásico has positioned itself as one of the best events that are held in Mallorca’s annual calendar, alongside events such as the King’s Cup Sailing and the Mallorca Open WTA Tennis Tournament. This shows that not only is the event an engine competition but also a great sporting and social experience, where local, resident and international participants mix.
