When designers Samantha Knight and Nail Mani met two years ago, it was fate. The women met whilst collaborating on a beach house in Pollença. They knew they had something special when it was selected to be featured by Architectural Digest. So, they joined forces and conceived PIED À TERRE, a new kind of interior design experience. Their aim is not only to beautify surroundings but to create nurturing spaces.
How it works
At PIED À TERRE, clients are encouraged to exhibit their own tastes, but are given assistance in pulling their vision together. This is helpful as it is something many of us are hopeless at doing on our own. They get that today’s environmentally aware consumer wants pieces that will be handed down and spaces made to stand the test of time. To that end, they insist on the highest quality materials, sourced them from local and international artisans. This helps to keep traditional craftsmanship alive as well as giving clients one-of-a-kind designs, all while respecting the client’s budget.
Samantha and Nail have pioneered an online interior design service where you simply send a floorplan of the room/s you’d like done. Their designers will then work with you to realise your perfect space with ideas on art, decoration and colour schemes. Finally, mood boards, material samples and a shopping list with access to their own bespoke in-house collections, as well as secret trade books not normally accessible to the public, are sent directly to you.
Using your own style ideas to help you make decisions, together you create the home you always wanted. Furthermore, they offer inspirational tips or discuss how they can help with renovations, be it one room or an entire estate.
Clients can also access free advice and buy furnishings and accessories at a click of a button from the PIED À TERRE online magazine. Additionally, they get the latest insight into Nail and Samantha’s creative ideas and musings from their many travels.
About the founders
These two high-flyers of the lifestyle and design world clearly have a lot to offer. Their collective experience speaks for itself.
Samantha’s interior design background spans more than a decade. Her first major project was an historic landmark building in London. From there, she gained a reputation for sensitively handling the requirements of preserving these buildings, while still giving her clients beautiful, modern spaces.
She always knew she’d live abroad, though. When an opportunity arose three years ago to design a home on Mallorca, she and her golf pro husband didn’t hesitate to make the move. They happily upped stakes to permanently settle here.
Nail studied management in Paris and England, and has called many places home. This has given her a unique, intuitive perspective and insight into the beauty of other cultures and their styles. After years working in the banking and pharmaceuticals worlds, she decided to go back to her first passion, interior design. She then gained her expertise renovating and decorating homes in Paris and here on the island. Two years ago, she also opened Oma Project Mallorca, a gorgeous decor and lifestyle store in Santa Catalina.
Their combined skills are a perfect blend giving clients the ideal tools they need to make sound decisions. So, whether you’re looking to update or completely renovate, PIED À TERRE has all you need to make the dream a reality. And as Samantha said on the day we met, “Everyone deserves good design.” Who could argue with that?
