Things to do in December
Mallorca is the perfect off-season destination in December, attracting visitors far and wide for vast offer of interesting activities. The month may not have the same exotic temperatures as summer, but what you do get is fewer tourists, idyllic walking-around-weather and serene landscapes to explore.
Christmas Markets, Mallorca
A medley of Christmas Markets taking place in various towns and ports across the island which fill the island with alluring scents, flavours and sensations, all wrapped up in an authentic festive atmosphere. Visitors and locals can enjoy the special Christmas markets in December. Palma de Mallorca offers a wealth of wonderful stalls and there will also be a very glamorous offering in Puerto Portals and Port Adriano and traditional markets hosted across the island’s charming villages and towns.

Fira de la Llet d’Ametla
The Ametlla Milk Fair is celebrated in the town of Marratxí before the start of the Christmas holidays, celebrating a traditional ingredient that has become a staple in the creation of Mallorcan sweets. During the day, there will be tastings, exhibitions of crafts, animals, as well as an array of other great activities!

Open Water Balears Cup, Mallorca
Mallorca is renowned for its vast offer of sporting events off-season, where cycling and hiking are two of the most popular things to do. However, swimming, albeit a little chilly, can be a challenge for the bravest. Why not test yourself at the Open Water Balears Cup, an exciting open water race held in the waters of Cala Nova.
Ice Skating, Mallorca
Get your skates on and have fun on ice in Palma, Port Adriano and Puerto Portals as well as other emblematic villages and town on the island. This year, Manacor has installed its very own 200 metres square ecological ice skating rink. Aimed at boosting the festive spirit, entrance will be free for everyone, with the ice rink opening from 10am to 1pm and from 4pm to 9pm, with the exception of December 24 and 31.

Palma is fantastic for shopping – think wonderful food markets, chic boulevards, stylish shops with the latest designs combindd with traditional Mallorcan artisans and bodegas. Finding that unique gift for yourself or your loved ones could not be easier in the capital and is well recommended to give you a retail fix.

There is nothing more inspiring then to visit Mallorca’s thriving markets in December. Markets have been a tradition for centuries and have always been the location where people regularly gather for the purchase and sale of food, supplies, livestock and other goods. There are many fabulous markets all over Mallorca on different weekdays that invite to spend a wonderful day shopping for the freshest food and buying typical Mallorcan goods.
