The Mallorca Design Day aims at empowering and making the work of new designers in the Balearic Islands, national and international spheres visible. The contest encourages people of any nationality who are studying or have finished studies of Fashion Design to take part.
The event is also open to people linked to the world of design who do not have qualifications in the subject at university. Mallorca Design Day is truly an inspiring event, welcoming anyone to take part.
About Mallorca Design Day
The Mallorca Design Day is a great international fashion showcase held in Puerto Portals. Here many designers present their collections at this great event hosted at Pret-A-Portals.
The emblematic Mallorcan port is the home to the fantastic fashion event, bringing together a host of talented designers, international models, experts, journalists and top-level influencers in the world of fashion.
The CEO of Puerto Portals, Corinna Graf, stated how proud she was that Puerto Portals has been integrated into such an important event for the fashion industry. Furthermore, with the event will be open to everyone with the desire to do something in the world of fashion.
The jury of the second edition of Mallorca Design Day has been formed by a team of experts and professionals from the world of fashion, design and communication industry. They include designers such as Pablo Erroz, Ela Fildalgo and Tolo Crespí from Ibiza. In addition, the head of communication of Coca Cola European Partners in Baleares, Gabriel Mulet and businesswoman Maite Arias also are included in the panel.
Finalists at Mallorca Design Day
A total of 121 collections from around the world have been submitted to this second edition of the Mallorca Design Day, quadrupling the number of proposals that were presented at the previous edition of the contest, held in 2017.
The director of the contest, Raquel Arañón and the CEO of Puerto Portals, Corinna Graf have been pleased to announce the winners and finalists at a recent press conference for the event.
The Argentine designer Nicolás Sánchez has been announced as the winner in the International category with a Tokyo collection. Madrid native, David de Calle is the winner of the National category with the collection ‘Pielofobia’. In addition, Carla García Parrondo is the deserving winner of the National Curvy category with her Komorobi collection.
The jury has also selected 6 proposals for new designers from the Balearic Islands. They include Rebeca Tejedor, Carla García Parrondo, Marisa del Hoyo, Alejandra Olalla Candia, Estela Martí and Alfonso Sánchez.
Awards and Prizes
The International winner will receive a prize of 2,500 euros and a one week stay for two people in Mallorca. The National and Curvy National winners will also receive the same prize. The Balearic winner will obtain 2,000 euros and a unforgettable stay in the Peninsula.
Take part in Mallorca Design Day
Fashion, style and design will come together with photography in a new Street Style Contest open to everyone.
