Exuding a more relaxed vibe than its neighbouring town of Magaluf and Torrenova, the resort has a wealth of amenities, being particularly visited by British tourists.
About Palmanova
Palma Nova lies on the south western coast of Mallorca in the gorgeous municipality of Calvia. It is favoured amongst holidaymakers thanks to its long stretch of beautiful white sand, with an array of hotels and family friendly attractions on offer. Being only a ten minute walk from the lively Magaluf, visitors can head here if they desire to experience its vibrant nightlife, returning to Palma Nova to escape the crowds.
Dating back to the mid 1930’s, Palmanova was one of the first tourist resorts to be built in Mallorca. Being once a fishing village, island officials decided to transform the area into an all purpose-built resort in the hope that it would attract visitors. This certainly worked after the Spanish Civil War, with Palma Nova thriving with tourism since the 1950’s.
How to get to Palmanova
Palmanova sits in a privileged position, only 30 minutes drive from Palma de Mallorca aiport. It is also very well placed next to the capital city, being only a 10 minute drive away, with the added plus of being well connected to the rest of the island thanks to the MA-1 motorway.
For those that will be travelling to Palma Nova by public transport, they will be pleased to know buses run frequently through the resort, with many connections between Palma and Magaluf. For those that want to do a little more exploring, the bus runs through the southwestern coastline, stopping in Cala Major, Portals Nous, Port Adriano, Santa Ponça and Peguera. There are also ample taxi ranks in the area, if you desire a quicker route.
Activities in Palmanova
Many of the activities that are on offer in Palmanova are centred around the beach, thanks to its glorious soft sand and beautiful azure waters. With ample amenities in and around the resort, Palmanova is the perfect destination for family, friends and young people, with options to suit every taste.
Each year, Palmanova attracts a wealth of families, due to its impressive beach and facilities. There is also a very friendly ambience of both locals and visitors, with a great selection of restaurants of varying cuisine. Although not being as lively as Magaluf, the nightlife in Palma Nova certainly holds its own, with a great choice of bars and discos in the resort.
For those that fancy a change of scenery, Palma Nova is located only a short proximity from Palma de Mallorca, where cultural sights, fantastic shopping and trendy bars are a plenty.



Water activities
Due to Palma Nova lying on the south-western coastline, there are a number of boat trips and private boat charters on offer to visitors, taking the perfect activity for a day on the gorgeous Mediterranean Sea.
For those that want a more thrilling day in the water, the Western Waterpark is located just outside of the resort, offering a range of different attractions, including a wave pool, water rapids and a 15-metre high pipe slide.

Golf
Palma Nova is situated within easy reach of some of the best golf clubs on the island, with Golf Santa Ponsa, T-Golf & Country Club and Real Golf de Bendinat are being within a 10-minute drive. The Golf Santa Ponsa features an 18-hole main golf course that measures a whopping 6,543 metres. Its wonderful club house is perfect to sample an array of delicious food, all in some extremely beautiful natural surroundings.
Alternatively, T Golf & Country Club is the perfect setting for every level of golfing, boasting a modern club house that serves wonderful organic Mediterranean cuisine, led by the acclaimed Head Chef Isaac Gonzalez Nieto. The Real Golf de Bendinat is situated between the sea and the mountains, featuring a beautiful club house with restaurant where you can savour Spanish and European cuisine.
In addition, one of the most popular attractions for budding golfers is the Fantasia Mini Golf, with three 18-hole courses set in tropical gardens with beautiful waterfalls, lakes with ducks and tropical vegetation.

Fun for kids
Forthose travelling with children the Katmandu Theme Park was notably recognised as the best theme park in Mallorca and second best theme park in Spain. As well as an upside down house, kids will delight in a waterpark, play areas and mini golf.

Beaches in Palma Nova
There are three beautiful beaches in Palma Nova, which are all linked to a lively promenade which runs throughout the resort. Palma Nova Beach is a blue flag beach and best for those that love water sports.
Another blue flag beach is Es Carregador is another blue flag beach, showcasing white sand and crystal clear seas. The beach is an attractive spot for families, thanks to its nearby play park. Situated furthest to the west is Son Maties, another blue flag beach that has an array of bars and restaurants, being a fantastic place to delight in a cold drink.


Restaurants in Palma Nova
Most of the restaurants that are situated along the seafront and promenade in Palma Nova tend to serve typical resort-style cuisine including pizza, pasta, breakfasts and burgers. However, it’s definitely worth exploring its surrounding streets to experience something more traditional.
For those that want to venture a little further, Palma has emerged as a gastronomical paradise for foodies, with an extensive variety of cuisine on offer – with everything from classic Mediterranean food to more innovative fusions.
